A Living Hope

The rescue mission of all rescue missions.

Matthew 20:17-19 [NLT], ...he took the twelve disciples aside privately and told them what was going to happen to him. 18 "Listen," he said, "we're going up to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man will be betrayed to the leading priests and the teachers of religious law.  They will sentence him to die. 19 Then they will hand him over to the Romans to be mocked, flogged with a whip, and crucified.  But on the third day he will be raised from the dead."

Easter is a story of HOPE .

1 Peter 1:3 [NIV], Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!  In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

True hope rests on God's promises.

Hope – a confident expectation in what is to come.

What happens when a person loses hope?

When people lose hope, they lose their ability to dream for their future.

Proverbs 13:12, Hope deferred makes a heart sick!

Why didn't the disciples understand what Jesus told them?

Luke 24:19-21 [NLT], He was a prophet who did powerful miracles, and he was a mighty teacher in the eyes of God and all the people. 20 But our leading priests and other religious leaders handed him over to be condemned to death, and they crucified him. 21 We had hoped he was the Messiah who had come to rescue Israel...

Mark 16:10, those who had been with him...were mourning and weeping.

All hope was lost.

Jesus walks calmly into our storm...and restores hope.

Where do you need hope?

Psalm 27:13-14 [AMP], [What would have become of me] had I not believed that I would see the Lord's goodness in the land of the living! 14 Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and be of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring.  Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord.

Romans 15:13 [NIV], May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 5:5 [NIV], And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
