Unfinished Business
God’s business always centers around an assignment, task or calling.
Our God is a God of completion.
Matthew 1:21 [NIV], She will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”
Luke 2:48-50 [NKJV], So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.” 49And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” 50 But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them.
Luke 4:18-20 [NKJV], “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” 20Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down.
John 17:4 [NKJV], I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work You have given Me to do.
Unfinished Business simply means “a situation that has not yet reached a satisfactory solution.”
John 12:27 [NKJV], “Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour?’ But for this purpose I came to this hour.”
Luke 22:39-44 [NKJV], Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed… 41 …and He knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” 43 Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. 44 And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
Jesus was on the brink of all He could have possibly endured.
Jesus was tempted to not finish His assignment.
Hebrews 12:3 [NKJV], For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.
John 19:28-30 [NKJV], After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!” …30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
