Show Me Your Glory
Exodus 33:1-3 [NKJV], Then the Lord said to Moses, “Depart and go up from here, you and the people whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘To your descendants I will give it.’ 2 And I will send My Angel before you… 3 Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in your midst, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.”
Exodus 33:7-17 [NKJV], Moses took his tent and pitched it outside the camp, far from the camp, and called it the tabernacle of meeting. …9 And it came to pass, when Moses entered the tabernacle, that the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses. 11 So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. 12 Then Moses said to the Lord, “See, You say to me, ‘Bring up this people.’ But You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found grace in My sight.’ 13 Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And [oh yea,] consider that this nation is Your people.” 14 And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” 15 Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. …17 So the Lord said to Moses, “I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.”
Exodus 33:18 [NKJV], And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.” [“show me the real You”]
There are times when the gnawing questions of our hearts actually originate with God and not us.
Psalm 37:4 [NIV], Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. <—With that thought in mind, I would encourage you to begin to pay closer attention to the “questions” of your heart…because those “questions” could be a great indicator of what God might be wanting to do in your life NEXT.
Pay attention to the questions of your heart; those questions could be an indicator of what God is wanting to do next in your life.
Exodus 33:19 [NKJV], 19 Then He said, “I will make all My goodness [beauty, majesty, fairness, joy] pass before you, and I will proclaim the name [reputation, character, authority] of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” 20 But He said, “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.” 21 And the Lord said, “Here is a place by Me, and you shall stand on the rock. 22 So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by. 23 Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.”
1. God desire to manifest His glory to His people.
It is a reminder that the veil between here and there isn’t as thick as we might think it is.
2. God desires to impart His glory to His people.
Isaiah 42:8 [NKJV], “My glory I will not give to another.”
John 17:22 [TPT], For the very glory You have given to Me I have given them so that they will be joined together as one and experience the same unity that We enjoy.
Isaiah 60:1-2 [ESV], Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. 2 For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and His glory will be seen upon you.
The darker this world becomes the brighter this glory we are called to carry will shine.
3. God’s glory responds to those who worship Him in His way.
Isaiah 60:7 [KJV], and I will glorify the house of My glory.
Isaiah 60:13 [KJV], and I will make the place of My feet glorious.
Exodus 40:33-34 [NLT], Then he hung the curtains forming the courtyard around the Tabernacle and the alter. And he set up the curtain at the entrance of the courtyard. So at last Moses finished the work. 34 THEN the cloud covered the Tabernacle, and the glory of the Lord filled the Tabernacle.
2 Chronicles 5:13-14 [NKJV], indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord, saying: “For He is good, for His mercy endures forever,” that the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, 14 so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.
His glory changes everything.
4. God’s glory in the midst of people may be missed even lost.
The glory of God will either increase or be diminished to whatever degree we allow our flesh to rule us.
Judges 16:20 [NLT], She said, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” And he awoke from his sleep and said, “I will go out as at other times and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the Lord had departed from him.
Worship can become habitual just like anything else. If we allow it to become routine, we can become just as hardened to the glory of God as an unbeliever can be against it.
