Healing

Matthew 16:13-23 (NLT When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.”15 Then He asked them, “But who do you say I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because My Father in heaven has revealed this to you.  You did not learn this from any human being. 18 Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build My church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven.  Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.” 20 Then He sternly warned the disciples not to tell anyone that He was the Messiah. 21 From then on Jesus began to tell His disciples plainly that it was necessary for Him to go to Jerusalem, and that He would suffer many terrible things at the hands of the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law.  He would be killed, but on the third day He would be raised from the dead. 22 But Peter took Him aside and began to reprimand Him for saying such things. “Heaven forbid, Lord,” he said.  “This will never happen to You!” 23 Jesus turned to Peter and said, “Get away from Me, Satan!  You are a dangerous trap to Me.  You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.”

Matthew 16:23 (NLT) “You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.”

  • Every challenge we face in this life is a symptom of the Fall of Man.

Galatians 3:13-14 (ESV) Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”— 14 so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.

  • When Christ redeemed us, He did more than save us from our sins.  He also purchased our healing and deliverance from all demonic influences.

Psalm 103:1-3 [NKJV], Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases…

Isaiah 53:4-5 [NIV] Surely He took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered Him punished by God, stricken by Him, and afflicted. 5 But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.

Matthew 8:16-17 [AMP], When evening came, they brought to Him many who were under the power of demons; and He cast out the evil spirits with a word, and restored to health all who were sick [exhibiting His authority as Messiah], 17 so that He fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah:  “He Himself took our infirmities [upon Himself] and carried away our diseases.”

Matthew 9:35 [NKJV], Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

1 Peter 2:24 [AMP], He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross [willingly offering Himself on it, as on an altar of sacrifice], so that we might die to sin [becoming immune from the penalty and power of sin] and live for righteousness; for by His wounds you [who believe] have been healed.

  • Salvation from sin and healing from sickness are both blessings [benefits] that came from the same atonement.

James 5:14-15 (NLT) Are any of you sick?  You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 Such a prayer offered in faith [the prayer of faith] will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well.  And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.

Exodus 23:25-26 (NKJV)  “And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. 26 …I will fulfill the number of your days.”

Psalm 139:16 (TPT) You saw who You created me to be before I became me!  Before I’d ever seen the light of day, the number of days You planned for me were already recorded in Your book.

The Bible tells us that…

-Hezekiah  (2 Kgs. 20:5-6]

-Widow’s sons  (1 Kgs. 17:17-24, 2 Kgs. 4:18-37)

-Elisha’s bones  (2 Kgs. 13:20-21)

-Jairus’ daughter  (Mk. 5:21-43)

-Young man’s funeral  (Lk. 7:11-17)

-Lazarus  (Jn. 11:38)

-Eutychus (Acts 20:9)

Barriers to God’s blessings…

1.  Ignorance of God’s Word and will (Is. 5:13, Hos. 4:6)

2.  Unbelief (Mark 6:4-13, Heb. 3:12-13)

3.  Unconfessed sin (Prov. 28:13, Js. 5:13-16)

4.  Lack of forgiveness (Mt. 6:14-15, Mk. 11:25)

5.  Being involved in a cult (Ex. 23:24-26)

Deuteronomy 29:29 (NIV) The secret things belong to the Lord our God…

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NLT) My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.  “And My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. 9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.

1 Corinthians 13:12 (NLT) Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.  All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.

2 Timothy 4:18 (NLT) Yes, and the Lord will deliver [rescue] me from every evil attack and will bring me safely into His heavenly Kingdom.  All glory to God forever and ever!  Amen.
