PROMISES, Part 4–Discover Purpose

Exodus 6:6-7 // "I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.  I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. 7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God.  Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.

God promises us...

  1. Salvation
  2. Freedom
  3. Restoration
  4. Fulfillment

Exodus 6:6 // "I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment."

1.  "To buy back or repurchase"
2.  "To recover and restore"

"What He has saved us to is greater than what He has saved us from!"

Studies show that 87% of Christians today say they have never discovered their purpose.

1. "With an outstretched arm"

Psalm 18:35 [NIV] // "You stoop down to make me great."

Question:  Now why does He choose to "stoop down" to where we are?

Psalm 8:4-6 [NIV] // "What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? 5 You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. 6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet."

"God wants to restore our God-given identity."

2 Corinthians 12:8 [NIV] // "...for His power is made perfect in my weakness."

2. "Mighty acts of judgment"

1 Thessalonians 2:18 // "We wanted very much to come to you, and I, Paul, tried again and again, but Satan prevented us."

Prevent means "to cut a ditch across the road."

PROBLEMS!

If that's your thinking this morning, I want to encourage you with what Paul said in Romans.

Romans 8:28 [NLT] // And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Romans 11:29 [MSG] // God's gifts and God's call are under full warranty – never canceled, never rescinded.

1.  Believe God has given us one

2.  Understand our design

"Within the treasure chest of your divine design, you will discover your destiny."

3.  Study and know what's available

4.  Ask God to reveal them

5.  Be willing to step out
