Overcomers, Part 3

Revelation 12:10-11 [NIV], "For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. 11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony..."

Why are so few of us living like an Overcomer?

Are you being overcome or are you overcoming?  Because there is no middle ground.

1 Peter 5:8-9 [NLT], Stay alert!  Watch out for your great enemy, the devil.  He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 9 Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith.

Religious Spirit

Poverty Spirit

Spirit of Confusion.

1 Corinthians 14:33, "For God is not the author of confusion but of peace..."

Proverbs 4:25-27 [NLT], "Let your eyes look directly ahead, and let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you. 26 Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. 27 Don't get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil."

So what is a "Spirit of Confusion?"

A spiritual or mental stronghold that prevents us from living with the mind of Christ.

Confusion has a grip on our nation thru...

  • skepticism
  • redefining morals
  • intellectualism

Four ways we open the door:

1.  Compromise

Psalm 119:105 [NIV], Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

Proverbs 4:18-19 [MSG], The ways of right-living people glow with light... 19 But the road of wrongdoing gets darker and darker - travelers can't see a thing; they fall flat on their faces.

2.  Fear of Man

Proverbs 29:25 [NIV], Fear of man will prove to be a snare...

Matthew 6:24 [NLT], "No one can serve two masters."

How do we know if we are struggling with the "fear of man?"

3.  Envy and Strife

James 3:16 [NKJV], For where envy and self-seeking [strife] exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.

James 3:17-18 [NKJV], But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy, and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

4.  Pride

Proverbs 11:2, "When pride comes, then comes dishonor, but with the humble is wisdom."

If we do not confront the open doors of Confusion in our lives, it will lead to deception.
