As It Depends On You, Part 2

  1. Our relationship with God
  2. Our relationship with People

How we handle those conflicts will reveal how much our relationships mean to us.

It is extremely difficult to resolve conflict in a healthy way, when we aren't healthy.

Every healthy church and every healthy relationship has one thing in common: HEALTHY PEOPLE.

Seven Characteristics of a Healthy Person

1.  Are easy to talk to

He who has knowledge restrains and is careful with his words, and a man of understanding and wisdom has a cool spirit (self-control, an even temper).  [calm spirit]
Proverbs 17:27 [AMP]

Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.
Colossians 4:6 [NLT]

2.  Are secure

"I have called you back from the ends of the earth, saying, 'You are my servant.'  For I have chosen you and will not throw you away. 10 Don't be afraid, for I am with you.  Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand."
Isaiah 41:9-10 [NLT]

3.  Get help when they need it

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man is he who listens to counsel.
Proverbs 12:15 [NASB]

He who walks with wise men will be wise.
Proverbs 13:20 [NKJV]

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens [and influences] another [through discussion].
Proverbs 27:17 [AMP]

4.  Respect themselves

Pray for us, for our conscience is clear and we want to live honorably in everything we do.
Hebrews 13:18 [NLT]

No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church.
Ephesians 5:29 [NLT]

5. Respect others

Do to others as you would like them to do to you. Luke 6:31 [NLT]

6.  Are open

A man who refuses to admit his mistakes can never be successful.  But if he confesses and forsakes them, he gets another chance.
Proverbs 28:13 [TLB]

7.  Are balanced

"The greatest gift you can bring to any relationship is a HEALTHY YOU.
