Isaiah 16:5
New King James Version (NKJV)
”In mercy the throne will be established;
And One will sit on it in truth, in the tabernacle of David,
Judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness.”

New International Version
”In love a throne will be established; in faithfulness a man will sit on it-- one from the house of David-- one who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness.”

New Living Translation
”then God will establish one of David's descendants as king. He will rule with mercy and truth. He will always do what is just and be eager to do what is right.”

  1. THE OLD TESTAMENT CYCLE.
SAME NARRATIVE THROUGH THE WHOLE OLD TESTAMENT. SIN, SERVITUDE, SUPPLICATION (CRYING OUT), THEN THE LORD WOULD RAISE UP A SAVIOR.

    2 Chronicles 7:14
14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

  2. THAT’S THEIR STORY. WHAT’S YOUR STORY?
    • I CAME THROUGH THE EMERGENCY ROOM. ALREADY DEAD, BEAT UP, BROKEN. DONE, BURNT.
    • WALK IN CLINIC. WEREN’T FEELING GOOD. YOU KNEW SOMETHING WAS UP.
    • BY APPOINTMENT. YOU KNEW YOU HAD TO GET RIGHT WITH GOD AT SOME POINT.

Doesn’t matter. It’s the same diagnosis. Your dying, we’re all dying from the same thing – sin. It’s killing us.

You can blame whoever you want: your fault, your environment, your family. Blame Adam and Eve. It doesn’t matter. We were damned to hell eternal.

BUT GOD.

EPHESIANS 2:4
”But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

The four church principles of The Anchor Church:

  1. KNOW GOD

  2. FIND FREEDOM

  3. DISCOVER OUR GOD GIVEN PURPOSE

  4. MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY.

We could look at them as steps or the new testament cycle.

1 John 4:19 – We love Him because He first loved us.

KNOW GOD.
Hopefully, we all know God.

You’re never done. Until He comes or you go to meet Him, we have got to go deeper.

Why? Because we have to find freedom.

COLOSSIANS 1:27 – Christ in you is the hope of glory.

How do we get free?

JOHN 8:32 – AND YOU SHALL KNOW (GOD) THE TRUTH, AND THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE.

Replace TRUTH with JESUS.

JOHN 14:6 – I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME.

If we get free, then we can help other people get free. Once you get free, you realize that is your God-given purpose. Matthew 10:8. Heal the sick, raise the dead, freely given, freely give. Basically discipleship.

He wants to use your life – YOUR TESTIMONY – to make a difference. (Billy Graham)

MATTHEW 5:13-16
13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
